Abstract

This presentation will highlight the importance of site effects and will provide an overview of treatment of site amplification in ground motion models used the 6th Generation Seismic Hazard Model of Canada.

Presenter’s Biography:
Dr. Roberto R. Olivera, P.Eng. holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (2004) from the University of Waterloo with a specialization in Numerical Modelling and Micromechanics of Undrained Granular Media. Dr. Olivera has held positions as Geotechnical laboratory manager for Golder Associates (2005-2013) and as Senior Geotechnical Engineer for Golder Associates (2013- to 2020). He is currently a Principal with WSP in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Olivera has participated in over a hundred projects providing geotechnical engineering consulting to the oil and gas, mining, offshore, dams and civil infrastructure industry in Canada and internationally.
